Wintergarden
NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital's indoor Wintergarden plaza, which is located in the Hospital lobby, provides a wonderful venue for music, dance, choral, and dramatic performances. The Wintergarden plays an integral and role in building a lasting bond between the Hospital, our patients, and the community.
A Multi-Purpose Performance and Conference SpaceThe Wintergarden serves as a public activity hub and congregating space for the Hospital and is designed to help lift the spirits and brighten the stay of our patients, families, and guests by using music and entertainment as a means of complementing the healing process. More than 100 events, happenings, and productions each year captivate the children in-person and on our closed circuit TVs located in every patient room.
The Wintergarden space is adjacent to the Children's Garden, an exterior seating and sculpture area that opens onto a larger landscaped courtyard, and it is bordered by the living history wall that displays a continuous loop of recent events and performances. Jou Jou Cafe and the Conference Center -- an additional meeting facility with an integrated audio-visual system -- are located just off the Wintergarden.
Wintergarden EventsThe Wintergarden performances and events offer fun and interaction for children and their families at the Hospital and offer a brief respite from their day-to-day medical routines. Through our partnership with schools in the community, local school children may join patients and families for a performance.
Events and performances have included:
- Story Hours, featuring authors like Eric Carle, Elise Primavera, and Judy Viorst
- Grammy-nominated pop star Avril Lavigne
- Gavin Degraw

- The cast from the Broadway musical A Christmas Carol
- Award-winning author Faith Ringgold

As one of the premier entertainment venues in New York City, the Wintergarden has played host to hundreds of artists, musicians, and entertainers and given them an environment for performing that not only allows them to display their talents and gain exposure, but also to play a role in the healing process by taking children and their families on an engaging journey into the world of performance art.
