The Hospital is located on Broadway between 165th and 167th Streets in Washington Heights, near the Manhattan side of the George Washington Bridge, and is accessible by car, bus, and subway. The main entrance is located on the northwest corner of Broadway and 165th Street.

  • From Upstate New York and New Jersey:
    After crossing the George Washington Bridge, follow signs to the Henry Hudson Parkway (also called the West Side Highway). Take the Riverside Drive exit and proceed south to 165th Street (the first left). Take 165th Street one block to Fort Washington Avenue. Take a left at Fort Washington Avenue to 168th Street. At 168th Street, make a right and proceed to Broadway. Take a right on Broadway. The Hospital will be on your right. Valet parking is available at the 166th entrance.
  • From Riverdale and Westchester via the Saw Mill River Parkway:
    Exit the Henry Hudson Parkway at Riverside Drive immediately past the George Washington Bridge. Follow directions above from Riverside Drive.
  • From Westchester, Connecticut, or the East Side of Manhattan, via the Major Deegan, Cross Bronx Expressway, or Harlem River Drive:
    Approaching the George Washington Bridge, take the Henry Hudson Parkway, stay to the left and follow signs to Riverside Drive. Follow directions above from Riverside Drive.
  • From the West Side of Manhattan:
    Take the Henry Hudson Parkway to Exit 15-Riverside Drive South. Follow directions above from Riverside Drive.

By Train
Amtrak offers transportation services to Penn Station in New York City. From Penn Station, patients and families can take the subway or cab directly to the hospital. For schedule information, please visit: www.amtrak.com.
Parking
Street parking is extremely limited. Some meters are available on 165th Street. Please note these are very closely monitored by the police. Valet parking and a Hospital garage are available.

In case of emergency:
  • If the valet service is open, you can leave your car with the valet at the main entrance.
  • If the valet service is closed, leave your car and inform the security personnel at the desk inside the lobby.
Valet Parking
Enter the circular driveway of The Hospital at 3959 Broadway between 165th and 166th Streets, which is the main entrance to The Hospital.

Monday - Friday: 5:45 am - 10 pm
Saturday, Sunday, and Holidays: 7 am - 10 pm
If you anticipate picking up your car after the valet is closed, please park in the Hospital garage at 115 Fort Washington Avenue, which is open 24 hours a day.

The Hospital's parking garage is located at 115 Fort Washington Avenue near 165th Street. The garage is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Parking Discounts
Please call our Parking Office at (212) 305-4903 if you have questions on the following discount passes.
  • Debit Parking Pass
    If you have an anticipated stay of five days or more, you can save money on parking by purchasing a debit parking pass from our Parking Office. The rate is $14 per day or $14 per trip. A prepay for a minimum of five trips plus a deposit of $10 for access card ($70 total minimum) is required. The deposit plus any unused balance is refunded when the card is returned to the Parking Office.

    To purchase a debit parking pass, a letter from the physician's office on Hospital letterhead verifying date of admission and expected length of stay or a copy of patient's admission papers must be presented to the Parking Office. Your social worker can assist you with obtaining the required letter. Two cars cannot use the same parking pass at the same time. This pass is good for 90 days.

    It is important to purchase the discount coupon on the day of admission. If your five day stay begins on the weekend when the office is closed, you can purchase a discount coupon on Monday if you bring in your weekend receipts.

  • Long Term Parking Pass
    The long term parking pass is best when patients are admitted for two weeks or more. An unlimited pass is valid up to 30 consecutive days. The cost is $202 plus a $10 fee for the access card. No refunds are available on a long term parking pass. Refunds are available only on access card deposits ($10).

    To purchase a long term parking pass, a letter from the physician's office on Hospital letterhead verifying date of admission and expected length of stay or a copy of patient's admission papers must be presented. Your social worker can assist you with obtaining the required letter. After three consecutive months in the hospital, the fourth month is free. The main Parking Office will issue a voucher for the free month.

  • Parking Vouchers
    For outpatient visits, specific departments may offer parking vouchers, which entitle you to free parking for the day of service. These include radiology (PET scan, etc.), ambulatory surgery and clinics. Note that not all departments/clinics offer parking vouchers.
  • Day of Discharge
    Parking is not charged for the day of discharge (at least one overnight stay is required). Present the discharge paperwork to the parking cashier at the main parking lot or valet payment area, and you will not be charged for that day's parking.
  • Additional Discounts
    Additional discounts for transportation and/or parking may be obtained from various organizations such as New York State Medicaid, Friends of Karen, Access-A-Ride, and the Lymphoma/Leukemia Association. Each organization has different criteria to qualify for aid and different policies for reimbursement Ask your social worker for help in finding options to cover these costs.
