NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital offers Child Life practicums and internships for bachelor and master's degree students who are considering a career as a Child Life Specialist.
Our 100 hour practicum is offered during the fall, spring and summer semesters. Application (far right column) is available for those students who meet the following requirements:- Completion of practicum application that includes a resume, two letters of recommendations that are signed and sealed, a list of goals for the internship, an essay, and an official transcript (from all schools)
- A minimum of 100 hours of volunteer experience with children in a pediatric healthcare setting by practicum start date; a verification letter/form is required
- Courses in child development with GPA 3.0 or higher in related courses
Our 15-week (600 hours) full-time program is offered during the fall and spring semesters. Applications (far right column) are available for those students who meet the following requirements:
- Affiliation with a college or university that has signed Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital agreement for student interns. The agreement (far right column) must be returned one month before internship start date to be eligible for internship.
- Completion of application that includes common application, a resume, two letters of recommendations that are signed and sealed, a list of goals for the internship, and an official transcript
- A minimum of 100 hours of volunteer experience with children in a pediatric healthcare setting; a verification letter/form is required
- Completion of a 100-hour practicum in a Child Life program within a hospital
- Completion of courses in growth and development, medical terminology, physiology and the hospitalized child [please provide the curriculums]
- GPA 3.0 or higher for related courses
Students should be available for an on-site or phone interview.
