Nutrition Services

Amy R. DeFelice, MD
Director, Nutrition Support Services

The Division's nutritional program manages children with a variety of disorders, including:

  • cystic fibrosis
  • celiac disease
  • inflammatory bowel disease
  • poor growth
  • overweight and obesity
  • feeding and swallowing disorders
  • food allergies

Nutritionists and physicians work closely together to formulate a plan to optimize the management of nutritional disorders affecting children. Patients with feeding and swallowing disorders are followed in collaboration with our expert speech and swallow therapists.

Our staff also has an in depth knowledge and experience with the management of tube feedings and intravenous nutrition for those patients with feeding difficulties and bowel dysfunction.

In addition, our nutritional staff coordinates care with the pediatric bariatric surgery program for those adolescent patients who have not responded to conventional diet and exercise regimens. See Adolescent Bariatric Surgery
