Vice PresidentNursing and Patient Care Services
Walk on to any floor or patient care unit within NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital, and you will immediately know that this is a special place. Our singular focus is all about caring for the children and their families who come to us. With a highly skilled and professional nursing staff, many with advanced degrees -- we are committed to creating an environment that provides quality patient care and excellence in clinical practice.
Family-centered care is the hallmark of our institution. The Department of Nursing believes in the values of family-centered care that empowers families and supports their care giving and decision making; respects family choices; and involves families in the planning and delivery of their child's care every step of the way. As part of that commitment, the Hospital has created an active Family Advisory Council comprised of parents, hospital staff, and faculty. The Family Advisory Council provides a family's unique perspective and helps us to do a better job in delivering care and services every day.
The Hospital's promise of We Put Patients First is reinforced through partnering and collaborating with our families in order to provide the safest, most comprehensive care possible. We place a high priority on clinical skills and dedication -- and just as important -- compassion and empathy for our patients. This compassion is woven through the fiber of everything we do -- from rounding with parents, answering their questions and concerns, and involving them in every aspect of their child's care. Families are integral to their child's healing process, and we encourage their active participation.
Patient education is also essential to our program of care. We prepare parents and caregivers to integrate their child back into family life and normal activities as seamlessly and as safely as possible.
Our goal every day is to provide the highest quality of care in which every interaction is an opportunity to transform our patients' experience. Ongoing communication, collaboration, and mutual respect between our nurses and physicians also ensure the best possible outcome for our patients. Our nurses advocate for their young patients, who are often too young and too sick to speak for themselves.
The nursing staff at Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital considers it a privilege to care for the children whose families have placed their trust in us. If you have any questions of concerns, please feel free to contact me.
