Patient Care Rounds
Every morning the neonatal healthcare team visits all infants in the NICU. This team is comprised of attending physicians, residents, fellows, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nutritionists, pharmacists, and medical students who each play a key role in the care of our patients.
During patient care rounds, each baby's medical condition is discussed -- particularly focusing on the events of the previous 24 hours -- in addition to any recent test results. This information is reviewed and a daily care plan is tailored to the baby's current condition.We encourage parents to be present on rounds, as this is the time when the baby's overall medical condition is discussed and care plans and goals are formulated.
