Winter Watch for Senior Citizens: 10 Tips for Having a Safe Season
Noted facilities planner and architect Louis F. ("Fritz") Reuter IV has rejoined NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital's management team as senior vice president for facilities development and real estate. Mr. Reuter was most recently assistant secretary-general and executive director of the Capital Master Plan at the United Nations and responsible for the $1.6 billion rebuilding of the U.N. Headquarters. Prior to that he was a member of the senior management team at NewYork-Presbyterian.
"We welcome Fritz back to NewYork-Presbyterian, confident in the knowledge that he will provide the leadership and expertise we need to successfully complete the major building projects that will enable us to continue and enhance our ability to provide quality care for our patients," says Dr. Herbert Pardes, president and CEO of NewYork-Presbyterian.
Dr. Steven J. Corwin, executive vice president and chief operating officer at NewYork-Presbyterian, says, "Fritz's expertise in his field is unparalleled, and I am pleased that he is rejoining our senior management team at this important juncture as we are embarking on ambitious construction projects and significant refurbishments at both our NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia and NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Centers."
From 1988 through 1997, Mr. Reuter was senior vice president for facilities development and real estate at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. He led the Hospital's major modernization effort and was responsible for the planning, design and construction of the award-winning Maurice R. and Corinne P. Greenberg Pavilion. Beginning in 1996, he became senior vice president for corporate consolidation of NewYork-Presbyterian, helping to merge the corporate services of New York Hospital and Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. From 1999 to 2000, he was executive vice president for administration at the Hospital. He was also president of the Royal Charter Companies from 1995 to 2000.
Mr. Reuter's extensive and distinguished career also includes leadership in facilities development projects at Montefiore Medical Center, Johns Hopkins Hospital, Geisinger Medical Center, Weill Cornell Medical College-Qatar, the American University in Beirut and the National University of Iran.
Mr. Reuter received numerous industry honors and awards for his work on the NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell major modernization project, including the F.W. Dodge New York Construction News Project of the Year Award, the Diamond Award for Excellence in Structural Engineering and the Grand Award for Engineering Excellence, among others. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in architecture and art history as well as a master's degree of architecture, both from Washington University in St. Louis.
"This is an exciting period for the Hospital as we enter a new phase in our approach to providing patient-friendly and high-tech facilities. This is very much of a homecoming for me, and I look forward to working with my colleagues in the years ahead," says Mr. Reuter.
