John N. Schullinger, MD

Dr. Schullinger was educated at Princeton University and the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University. Following two years in the U.S. Navy he completed his surgical residency at the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. In 1964 he was appointed as Instructor in the Department of Surgery, Columbia University. He taught and practiced general surgery until 1968 when he joined the full time surgical staff at Babies Hospital (now Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New York-Presbyterian). His interests in pediatric surgery were broad but were especially focused on GI problems and childhood malignancies. He retired in 1994 as Professor Emeritus of Clinical Surgery.

Dr. Schullinger serves on the Admissions Committee of the College of Physicians and Surgeons, the P&S Alumni Council, and the Columbia University Alumni Trustee Nominating Committee. He also serves on the boards of several charitable organizations. With Dr. Steven Stylianos he edits the Abstract Section of the Journal of Pediatric Surgery. He is a charter member of the American Pediatric Surgical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the American College of Surgeons and is boarded in both general and pediatric surgery. A lectureship in Childhood Cancer was established in his name in 1997 at the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center.
