Why Choose Us for Your Child's Care
- The Division of Pediatric Cardiology is the largest program in New York State and one of the largest in the county.
- We were one of the original centers selected to participate in the Pediatric Heart Network (PHN) formed by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute to study cardiac disease in children.
- Our pediatric cardiac electrophysiologists manage one of the largest programs of its kind in the metropolitan region, caring for children with a wide range of arrhythmias and those who need pacemakers and implantable cardiac defibrillators.
- The Division offers one of the largest pulmonary hypertension centers in the world.
- In our dedicated pediatric catheterization labs, our pediatric interventional cardiac catheterization team performs over 1,500 diagnostic and therapeutic procedures a year, making it the largest program in the Tri-State area.
- Our Division was one of the first in the world to begin investigating new devices and developing techniques to repair heart defects in children without open-heart surgery.
- We served as the principal investigators of the first trial in the United States evaluating percutaneous pulmonary valve implantation, a new way of inserting valves inside the hearts of children and young adults with congenital heart problems without open-heart surgery.
- Our Comprehensive Pediatric Cardiomyopathy, Heart Failure, and Transplantation Program offers state-of-the-art pediatric cardiovascular care, from evaluation to individualized management of children with complex congenital heart disease and severe cardiac disorders, including pre- and postoperative care.
- We have one of the few dedicated pediatric cardiopulmonary labs in the metropolitan area, which is used to help to identify the cause of chest pain, evaluate cardiopulmonary fitness, and determine whether it is safe for a child to participate in regular activity.
- Our Adult Congenital Heart Program was the first one of its kind to be established in New York State in which pediatric cardiologists familiar with congenital abnormalities manage the care of adults who have lived with these conditions all their lives.
