Assessment Clinic
The Assessment Clinic is a psychiatric evaluation service, which provides comprehensive psychiatric diagnostic evaluations of children and adolescents. ages 4 to 19 years. Our multidisciplinary team is composed of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and a psychometrician.
Our mission is to provide culturally competent and accurate diagnostic assessments for a wide variety of emotional and behavioral difficulties. Common client concerns include depression, anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity, and disruptive behaviors.
The evaluation process includes an initial telephone screening interview with the child's parent or caregiver to assess the immediate needs of the client. The remaining components of the evaluation include a clinical interview of parent and child, integration of academic, medical, and social development factors, and, in some cases, a psycho-educational screen. This comprehensive assessment may require three to four visits.
Following the completion of the evaluation, feedback and recommendations are provided to the family. Recommendations may include psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy, school consultation, psychological testing, and/or case management. Outpatient treatment referrals may include one of the many sub-specialty clinics in our pediatric psychiatry department, school-based programs, or local community clinics.
